Manure processing: Concentrator and H2E

Manure processing new style on the farm that takes into account high energy prices : manure first goes through a simple auger press. Thin fraction goes through the Concentrator which provides a BOD/COD reduction of 90-95%.  The thick fraction from the Concentrator is further dewatered via a belt press.  The electrical consumption of a Concentrator is only a fraction compared to a centrifuge.

The thick fraction from this belt press is disposed of to a biodigester together with the thick fraction from the auger press.  Due to the thickening and high carbon content per tonne, the disposal costs drop considerably.

The thin fraction from the Concentrator passes through an anaerobic water treatment unit : the H2E.  This unit uses hardly any energy (gravitational feeding is possible).  A metering pump feeds the biology with Biocomplex every day.  The remaining nitrogen is removed here so that the effluent meets the standard for surface water.  Of course, one can also choose to use this aqueous fraction for irrigation of nearby plots.
